On The Nose Home Inspections: Efflorescence

March 27, 2017

Efflorescence is the white chalky powder that you might find on the surface of a concrete or brick wall. It can be a cosmetic issue, or it can be an indication of moisture intrusion that could lead to major structural and indoor air quality issues. On The Nose Home Inspections inspects this all across Canton, Akron, and Alliance Ohio and all of the surrounding areas that we cover, especially during Spring. The moisture that creates efflorescence often comes from groundwater, but rainwater can also be the source. It is very common to confuse efflorescence from mold, but On The Nose Home Inspections is highly trained to distinguish between the two!
